The Sanford Lab is seeking an undergraduate agronomy assistant for the summer of 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an undergraduate student seeking experience in a wide range of agronomic systems including conventional and organically managed cash-grain (corn, soybeans, wheat, barley) and dairy forage systems (corn silage, oats, alfalfa), cool-season pastures grazed by Holstein heifers, bioenergy crops (switchgrass, etc.), and native prairies. The candidate will work closely with Mark Walsh, to set up machinery, calibrate planting and fertilizing rates, maintain plots (mowing, string trimming, fence maintenance), and keep our research facility in order. Ability to work in inclement weather conditions (heat and cold) and lift up to 50 lbs is a must. Our standard undergraduate rate is ($15/h) and the position would be full time through the summer.
If you are interested in applying for this position or have any questions, please send an email with the subject line “Agronomy Assistant” to Dr. Gregg Sanford (gsanford [at] wisc [dot] edu). If you are applying for the position, please attach a cover letter and resume to the email.
